Many players are wondering Is overwatch 2 split screen, atleast in free-to-play PvP multiplayer mode. What about the PvE story or hero missions? We have the answer. Read on to discover if either one of these features is split-screen.
Is Overwatch 2 Split-Screen?
Overwatch 1 didn’t have this feature during all of its existence. Many felt that the developers may have considered including this feature with the major changes that Blizzard made in the latest title.
Overwatch 2 currently does not support Split-Screen. Split-Screen support is something players have requested for a while, but the developers have yet to implement it.
Players who want to play the game offline will not be able do so. The only way to play online is to connect with others.
Overwatch2 won’t be available as a co-op split screen experience. This is true for the free-to-play multiplayer PvP, but not for the PvE story or hero missions.
Split-screen was not an option in the original Overwatch because it was a multiplayer-only game. It’s likely that Blizzard has completely ignored split-screen for PvP multiplayer, as they have not commented on Overwatch 2. Split-screen would make sense, however, as the sequel will feature a dedicated PvE version.
These online co-op missions are for four players and aim to explore the storyline and subplots of the characters. This will be an online multiplayer co-op game. But what about local coop split-screen?
In 2023, PvE story and hero mission will be available separately from the free-to play multiplayer. It is not known when these narrative modes will become available, or if they will cost money. Given the long timeline, it is possible that Blizzard will include split-screen in this version. Here’s why.
Split-screen is a common feature in action-adventure campaigns and is also common in FPS game campaigns. The Overwatch 2’sPvE mode makes it easy to add this feature. It’s also limited to four players making it ideal for a four-player split screen. Blizzard might be looking at implementing split screen in this edition due to the long timeframe.
It seems perfect, that’s for certain. But, it’s speculation and we’ll have to wait to see if it happens. It’s possible, but it’s not impossible.
